Framingham State Men’s Basketball 67-64 Victory over Worcester State

FRAMINGHAM, MA - The Framingham State University men’s basketball team received a double double from sophomore Tony Alexandre (Hyde Park, MA) and held off a second half comeback by the Worcester State University Lancers to secure a 67-64 victory in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action this evening at the Athletic Center.

With the win, the Rams improve to 5-19 on the year and are now 2-9 in the conference, while the Lancers fall to 15-6 overall and move to 7-4 in the MASCAC.

FRAMINGHAM, MA - The Framingham State University football team received three turnovers from their defense which the offense converted into 14 points as the Rams defeated Plymouth State University 34-3 in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action this afternoon at Framingham’s Bowditch Field.

With the win, the Rams remain atop the MASCAC standings at 6-1 overall and 5-0 in the conference, while the Panthers slip to 2-5 on the year and now 1-4 in the MASCAC.

FSU RAMS Football Defense Propels Team to 26-14 Victory over UMass Dartmouth

FRAMINGHAM, MA - The Framingham State University football team forced five turnovers which they converted into 19 points as the Rams defeated the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth 26-14 in Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) action this afternoon at Maple Street Field.

Entering the game both teams were 2-0 in the MASCAC and with the victory, the Rams remain unblemished in the conference at 3-0 and 4-1 overall.   The Corsairs fall to 3-2 on the year and are now 2-1 in the MASCAC.

The Rams defense held the Corsairs to 188 yards of total offense – 111 rushing and 77 passing – in addition to forcing the five turnovers.  The Rams recorded four interceptions and recovered a fumble that led to three Framingham touchdowns.

FRAMINGHAM, MA - The Framingham State University football team once again overcame a slow start to score 19 fourth quarter points as they defeated Worcester State University 29-14 in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) regular season finale for both squads this afternoon at Bowditch Field.

With the win, the Rams improve to 9-1 on the season and finish the year a perfect 8-0 in the conference. They await word on a possible at-large berth in the NCAA Division III Football Tournament when pairings and seedings are announced tomorrow night at 6 p.m. by the NCAA.  The Lancers see their regular season end at 7-3 overall and 5-3 in the MASCAC.

Sophomore Jalen Green (Brockton, MA) led the Rams with 104 yards rushing on 27 attempts, while quarterback Matt Silva (Dracut, MA) had seven rushes for 40 yards and a touchdown. Framingham State Captures 2014 MASCAC Volleyball Tournament Championship

Framingham, MA - Behind tournament MVP Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, MA), the Framingham State University volleyball team captured the 2014 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Volleyball Tournament Championship with a 3-0 victory over Worcester State University in the tournament finals at Framingham’s Athletic Center.

With the victory the Rams improve to 23-11 on the season and receive the MASCAC’s automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division III Volleyball Championship with pairings and seedings being announced on Monday.

The top seed Rams opened the day defeating fourth seed Bridgewater State University 3-1 in one semifinal match, while second seed Worcester State defeated third seed Westfield State 3-1 in the other semifinal to reach the championship match against the Rams.

Bridgewater State took the first set from the Rams in thrilling fashion 25-23.  The Rams took the second game 25-23 and rallied from a 20-17 deficit in the third to take that frame 25-21 before closing the match with a 25-22 victory in the fourth set.

Rackliffe led the Rams in the opener with 14 kills on 38 attempts with five blocks and seven digs, while sophomore Julia Wan (South Deerfield, MA) also picked up 14 kills to go along with 10 digs and two blocks.  Junior Danielle Girard (Tivoli, NY) picked up a double double with 12 kills and 14 digs, while senior Maribeth Martin (Barnstable, MA) added 17 set assists.

The Bears were led by 17 kills and 10 digs from sophomore Hannah Maymon (Narragansett, RI).  Freshman Christina Jaros (Plymouth, MA) chipped in with 12 kills and four blocks, while sophomore Charleyne Panner (Gilford, NH) added 21 assists.

The Rams cruised to the victory in the championship match defeating the Lancers 25-7, 25-16 and 25-22.

Rackliffe once again led the attack with 12 kills, two aces and two blocks, while Wan finished with seven kills, 15 digs and three assists.  Girard closed the tournament with a five kill and 14 dig performance, while freshman Molly Meehan (Quincy, MA) chipped in with 14 digs.

 

The Lancers were led by 10 kills and 11 digs from senior Alyssa Jasper (Rockland, Mass.), while junior Jennifer Cabral (Swansea, Mass.) added 13 defensive digs.
