The Framingham Education Foundation 20th Annual Adult Team Spelling Bee will be held on November 16, 2011 - Register your team now!

FRAMINGHAM, MA - The 20th Annual Framingham Education Foundation Adult Spelling BEE will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Cameron Middle School, (215 Elm Street  Framingham, MA).

The event is one of the major fundraisers to support the grant program the Framingham Education Foundation sponsors to fund innovative and exciting programs in classrooms in the Framingham Public School system.

A few months ago, we ran the article,"Good Words Wanted by Framingham Education Foundation", when they were looking for suggestions for the 1000 word list that's prepared each year so contestants can study the words they may be asked to spell.

This year's list is now complete -- and teams are forming!  This is an adult team spelling bee -- businesses, schools, organizations, or any (3) adults can be(e) a team, (team registration fee is $350 -- 100% of all fees go towards education programs in Framingham Public Schools!).

DeSouza Hat Trick Puts FSU Women's Soccer 4-2 Over Clark

Framingham State Freshman Forward Isabela DeSouza hat trick leads FSU Women’s Soccer to 4-2 win over Clark University.

FRAMINGHAM, MA - Freshman forward Isabela DeSouza (Framingham, Mass.) notched her first collegiate hat trick in a four minute span during the game's final 5:24 to lift the Framingham State University women's soccer team to a 4-2 come from behind victory today over Clark University in non-conference action at Maple Street Field.

With the win, the Rams even their season record at 4-4, while the Cougars fall to 2-6-1.

Clark had an opportunity to score first just over two minutes into the game as senior Sara Conway (Lynn, Mass.) sent the ball through to Hannah Moriarty (Millbury, Mass.).  Moriarty scored what appeared to be the game’s first goal, but the goal was waved off on an offsides call. The first of 11 offsides that Clark was called for in the game.

Clark had several other opportunities to take the game’s first lead including a header from Conway that hit the crossbar and bounced in front of the net, but FSU goalkeeper McKenzie Vershon (Chicopee, Mass.) was able to control before it bounced into the net.

FRAMINGHAM, MA - The Framingham State University defense stopped the Bridgewater State University Bears on a fourth down with 1:29 remaining in the game to preserve a 28-20 victory in New England Football Conference (NEFC) Bogan Division action in Framingham on Homecoming and Family Weekend.

With the win the Rams even their record at 2-2 on the year and 1-0 in the division, while the Bears suffer their first loss and are 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the Bogan Division.

Sannicandro Encourages High-Schoolers to Go Public!

Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Framingham High School - Learn what UMass and other Massachusetts public universities and community colleges offer.

FRAMINGHAM, MA - Representative Tom Sannicandro, House Chair of the Joint Committee on Higher Education, is hosting Go Public!, an event geared toward students and parents interested in learning more about what public universities and colleges offer. Go Public! will take place Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Framingham High School, 115 "A" Street, Framingham, MA.

"We have a terrific public higher education system in Massachusetts," Rep. Sannicandro said. "This event will show our young people and their families how much our public universities can offer."

FSU RAMS Volleyball 3-0 Win Over Elms College

FRAMINGHAM, MA - The Framingham State University volleyball team rolled to a 3-0 win tonight over Elms College in non-conference action this evening at Framingham's Athletic Center. The Rams won in straight sets by scores of 25-12, 25-13 and 25-16. With the win, the Rams improve to 8-5 on the year, while the Blazers slip to 4-7.
