Night at Owl's Nest to Benefit Literary Unlimited

January 21, 2007  (21:21:58 EST)

FRAMINGHAM, MA -- The Literacy Unlimited program in the Framingham Public Library is holding its "Midwinter's Extravaganza" at Owl's Nest Farm in Framingham, 429 Belknap Road, from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, February 3. Beat the winter blahs and help a good cause at the same time!

There will be an international buffet dinner, open bar, musical show, silent auction, and last but not least, tours of Owl's Nest Farm, a century old, 9,000 square foot house that has been featured on Channel 5's Chronicle program and the Boston Globe.

The house is unusual -- not just for its size, but for the wonderful museum quality collections it houses. From an 1884 music box to a 1933 Steinway grand piano to a room devoted to antique dolls, Owl's Nest Farm surprises you at every corner. There's the Mickey Mouse room, the
Egyptian room, and a pool table in the ballroom. As owner Bruce Davis says, "I don't collect just anything. It has to have character, be interesting or I don't want it."

Your tour of this home is sure to be fascinating and delightful.

Tickets cost $75 each and may be purchased by calling 508-879-3570, ext. 214 or by emailing _FPL4@minlib.net_ (mailto:FPL4@minlib.net) . Your generous contribution is fully tax deductible to the extent allowable under law.

Literacy Unlimited, established in 1986, is an organization at the Framingham Libraries and Morse Institute Library that provides free instruction in
English for Speakers of Other Languages, basic literacy and GED to adults through one-on-one tutoring and group classes. All tutors are volunteers and trained by the staff of Literacy Unlimited. The organization is an affiliate of Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts and ProLiteracy America.
