RICHARDSON WINS STATE REP RACE

November 08, 2006  (08:33:55 EST)

FRAMINGHAM, MA – After a fast-paced two week campaign, Democrat Pam Richardson will go to the State House as 6th Middlesex rep. Richardson received 4,258 write-in votes. Republican nominee Nick Sanchez was runner-up, receiving a little over 3,000. Dawn Harkness received 814, Jim Rizoli 467, Tom Tierney 123, and Gerry Bloomfield 50. The late Debby Blumer received 2,302 votes which do not count.

Voter turnout was over 55 percent. Due to the forced write-in campaign because the ballots were prepared before untimely Blumer’s passing, just weeks before the election, the final tally wasn’t determined until after 1 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 8th. Look for the final election results to be posted on the town’s official website, framinghamma.gov.

Blumer’s office will continue to serve the public until Richardson is sworn in in January. Diana Hwang, aide to the late Debby Blumer, encourages residents to please call (617)722-2400 if anyone needs help with district issues.
