3-Day Ahead!

FRAMINGHAM, MA - On Friday, July 22nd, 2011, at 6:30am, for the sixth time in as many years, the starting point and opening ceremony for the Susan G. Komen "3 Day for the Cure" (Boston) walk was held Farm Pond in Framingham.

While the short time spent at Farm Pond was the offical "start", months of fund-raising, preparation and training had already been put in by those who would actually do the walk.

Although framingham.com was there to capture the event in photos, video and interviews.  Real credit for the following photos should go to the women and men who did the 60-mile walk, to those who donated time and money to the cause, and to the organizers and crew who made the event a success.

Here's a few photos from the start of the 2011 Boston 3-Day... ...[read more]

I had a chance to speak with Dr. Sheri Phillips, this year's National Spokesperson for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure organization.

At the start of the interview, I said "I'll ask some questions, and if any are too personal, or you prefer not to answer, or want me to leave anything out -- let me know."

Sheri, the Homewood, Illinois mother of two teenage daughters, and a practicing physician for the past 18 years who is now a 2-year survivor of breast cancer said, "None of it is too personal.  Information is power. FRAMINGHAM, MA - Long recognized as one of the worst things about Downtown Framingham, traffic along the Rt. 126 corridor through the Rt. 135 intersection and rail crossing is about to get even worse -- temporarily.
