Summer Stuff To Do (for Bored Kids)

FRAMINGHAM, MA - During summer vacation many parents may be hearing the all too familiar "I'm bored" from their school age progeny.

Hey Ma! I'm bored!In these "difficult economic times" things to do that are are free or only cost a few dollars -- and don't require excessive driving can help stretch the family budget between trips to Six Flags, Canobie Lake Park or other New England area day trips.

For activities in the list that require traveling in town -- consider having kids go places on MWRTA routes.  Older kids can walk to a neighborhood bus stop, and go by themselves -- relieving their parents of driving duty -- and helping reduce local daytime traffic.

Town of Framingham Hiring Summer Laborers

Framingham, MA - The Town of Framingham is hiring summer laborers to maintain the Town's fields, parks and recreational areas.

The work involves operating park maintenance equipment to maintenance fields, recreation areas, and parks "including, but not limited to, painting, mowing, trimming, trash removal, ball field maintenance, raking, cleaning and general landscaping type activities."

Applicants must be at least eighteen (18) years old, have a MA Class C drivers license, and "have experience sufficient to indicate the aptitude to do the work safely and efficiently."

The seasonal position pays $9.85 to $11.03 per hour, and as (40) hours per week, (Sun-Sat),  with overtime as needed.

In cooperation with the USDA Summer Food Service Program, The United Way of Tri-County will be providing free lunches to children throughout summer vacation.

Framingham State RAMS Youth Football Camp

FRAMINGHAM, MA - The Framingham State University football program is sponsoring a youth football camp July 25-28, 2011 from 4:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at the university's Maple Street field.

The "no-contact" camp is open to players age 8 through 15.

Space is limited to the first 100 players to register, (to maintain a 10:1 player coach ratio).

Participants must submit medical release form with registration and $120 (non-refundable) fee.
