FRAMINGHAM, MA<\/strong> -- Boston Bruins<\/strong> General Manager Don Sweeney<\/strong> announced on June 26th, 2023 that the Bruins has acquired Framingham native Reilly Walsh<\/strong> from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for forward Shane Bowers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Born in Framingham in 1999, Walsh grew up in New Hampshire and played high school\u00a0hockey for Proctor Academy where his father Mike Walsh<\/strong>, (a former New York Islander<\/strong>) <\/em>was Proctor's varsity coach. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While hockey is literally in Reilly's blood -- he has also put in the sweat, working his way up and made the jump at just 6-year-old to earn a spot on the Concord Capitals (NH) program for players age 9 to 10 after proving he was ready, (and one of the best 5 skaters in that age group).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While in high school Walsh, a defenseman played for the U.S. National (Under 17) Team where he represented the United States twice internationally; in 2016 in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament at Breclav, Czech Republic wherer the team took Second Place. Reilly skated in all four games. He also play in the 2015 U-17 Five Nations Tournament in Arosa, Switzerland where the team took First Place. Reilly skated in every game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After high school, Walsh went on to play for Harvard University<\/strong> from 2017-2020 in the Division 1, Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), then for the Binghamton Devils<\/strong>, then the New Jersey Devils<\/strong> and played for their AHL affiliate the Utica Comets<\/strong> appearing in 174 games before being traded to the Bruins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
