{"id":11331,"date":"2023-07-14T17:03:20","date_gmt":"2023-07-14T22:03:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.framingham.com\/news\/?p=11331"},"modified":"2023-07-14T17:08:29","modified_gmt":"2023-07-14T22:08:29","slug":"framingham-mosquito-spraying-july-20-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.framingham.com\/news\/2023\/07\/14\/health-fitness\/framingham-mosquito-spraying-july-20-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Framingham Mosquito Spraying July 20, 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/www.framingham.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/mosquito-control-300x.jpg\" alt=\"East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project\" class=\"wp-image-6377\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.framingham.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/mosquito-control-300x.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.framingham.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/09\/mosquito-control-300x-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project in Framingham.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>FRAMINGHAM, MA<\/strong> -- The East Middlesex <strong>Mosquito Control <\/strong>Project is planning to use a <strong>truck mounted aerosol sprayer<\/strong> to control mosquito populations in <strong>Framingham<\/strong> on <strong>Thursday, July 20th, 2023<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The spraying will take place in the <strong>South Framingham<\/strong>, including the <strong>Coburnville-Tripoli <\/strong>neighborhoods.  <strong>Spraying route<\/strong> includes areas located <strong>south of Waverly Street<\/strong> near Fay Road, Bethany Road, Winthrop Street, Hollis Street, Irving Street, Bates Road, Hickory Hill Lane, Jodie Road, <em>(and many other side-streets and smaller roads in same area).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Spraying will be done between sunset and 11:30 p.m.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If postponed, spraying will be rescheduled for the following week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The mosquito control product being used is <strong>Zenivex E4<\/strong> (EPA Reg No. 2724.807), and it\u2019s being applied at 1 oz per acre.  Zenivex E4 is a non-ester pyrethroid and is classified by the EPA as a reduced risk pesticide.  Mosquito control applications of Zenivex E4 do not pose a significant risk to people or their pets due to the low toxicity and the small amount used to control mosquitoes.  Zenivex E4 biodegrades rapidly and doesn\u2019t build up in the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As with any <strong>pesticide<\/strong>, people should minimize their exposure.  If residents see a <strong>spray truck<\/strong> approaching, they are advised to <strong>go indoors<\/strong> for a few minutes while the spray dissipates.
