{"id":11422,"date":"2023-10-15T21:00:38","date_gmt":"2023-10-16T02:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.framingham.com\/news\/?p=11422"},"modified":"2023-10-15T21:03:31","modified_gmt":"2023-10-16T02:03:31","slug":"team-framingham-2024-boston-marathon-applications-now-available","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.framingham.com\/news\/2023\/10\/15\/local-sports\/team-framingham-2024-boston-marathon-applications-now-available\/","title":{"rendered":"Team Framingham: 2024 Boston Marathon Applications Now Available"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"629\" height=\"397\" src=\"https:\/\/www.framingham.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/team-framingham-marathon.png\" alt=\"[logo] Team Framingham, Boston Marathon Runners\" class=\"wp-image-11423\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1.584382871536524;width:251px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.framingham.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/team-framingham-marathon.png 629w, https:\/\/www.framingham.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/team-framingham-marathon-300x189.png 300w, https:\/\/www.framingham.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/team-framingham-marathon-150x95.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 629px) 100vw, 629px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Run the 2024 Boston Marathon with Team Framingham!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><strong>FRAMINGHAM, MA<\/strong> -- <strong>Want to run the Boston Marathon in 2024?<\/strong> Team Framingham 2024 applications are now available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\"><strong>Team Framingham is seeking applications from organizations and runners.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Team Framingham<\/strong> was formed for the 2014 Boston Marathon to formalize the process for distributing the entries provided to the City of Framingham by the <strong>Boston Athletic Association (BAA)<\/strong>, the organizers of the annual <strong>Boston Marathon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>The Team Framingham program is overseen by a city-appointed Steering Committee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Steering Committee will allocate all of the invitational entries for the <strong>2024 Boston Marathon<\/strong> provided to Framingham through the Boston Athletic Association (BAA) Host Community Program via random selection (lottery).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Steering Committee established the criteria for runner and charity applicants and will publish these guidelines as part of the runner and charity applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There will be a finite number of Framingham-focused 501(c)(3) organizations selected by random drawing following an application process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Runners selected in the lottery will be required to choose one of the selected organizations to benefit from their fundraising.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some <strong>significant modifications<\/strong> have been made to the application criteria <strong>for runners and charities for 2024<\/strong> -<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group has-background\" style=\"background-color:#e0ffe0\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<p><strong>Now Eligible:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Employees of subcontractors of the City of Framingham<\/strong> who are currently on the Framingham account and have been for a minimum of one year are eligible to apply.  This opens the application pool to Fire Department EMT\u2019s and school department van and bus drivers among others.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Graduates of Framingham High and Keefe Tech<\/strong> who are 18 to 25 years of age and no longer reside in Framingham are eligible to apply.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Retirees of service to the City of Framingham or the Framingham Public Schools<\/strong> with a minimum of 5 years of service and residents of Massachusetts are eligible to apply.  There is no longer a 10-year cap on applying post-retirement. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Runners selected in the lottery will commit to a fundraising goal of $5,000 and a minimum obligation of $2,000 for 2024.
