MWRA supply tunnels, connectors and aqueducts in and near Weston, MA<\/p><\/div>\n

WESTON, MA - <\/strong>on Saturday afternoon, (May 1, 2010)<\/em>, the Metropolitan Water Resource Authority, (MWRA), announced a major break in a 10 foot diameter pipe.<\/p>\n

The break is located where the MetroWest Water Supply Tunnel meets the City Tunnel on Recreation Road in Weston.<\/p>\n

The leak has caused 8 million gallons of water per hour to leak from the water supply into the Charles River.<\/p>\n

Framingham residents are not<\/span> affected by this break, and no \"boil water<\/em>\" advisory for the town has been issued. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Due to infiltration of the water supply, residents of the following towns and MWRA designated areas east of Weston are<\/em> advised to boil any water to be used for drinking or food preparation, (for humans -or- animals)<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Emergency water conservation measures are being implemented for all impacted communities.<\/p>\n

The MWRA is activating its emergency water supplies such as the Sudbury Aqueduct, Chestnut Hill Reservoir and Spot Pond Reservoir. THIS WATER WILL NOT BE SUITABLE FOR DRINKING, but can be used for bathing, flushing and fire protection.<\/p>\n
