{"id":185,"date":"2009-07-27T20:40:54","date_gmt":"2009-07-28T01:40:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/framingham.com\/wordpress\/?p=185"},"modified":"2010-04-05T20:51:31","modified_gmt":"2010-04-06T01:51:31","slug":"many-happy-reunions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.framingham.com\/news\/2009\/07\/27\/around-town\/many-happy-reunions\/","title":{"rendered":"Many Happy Reunions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This past weekend we went to a class reunion weekend.\u00a0 Wow.\u00a0 It was an uplifting experience.\u00a0 We had conversations with people we only knew slightly in high school, but it didn't matter.\u00a0 We shared many common bonds, experiences, and viewpoints.<\/p>\n<p>Because of our age bracket, we could share not only parenting stories, but also how we have had to deal with our aging or incapacitated parents, and in some cases,\u00a0the deaths of spouses and parents.<\/p>\n<p>Many classmates were living in their parents' houses, and some continued their parents' local businesses.\u00a0 Quite a few married classmates or someone a grade or two ahead or behind from our high school.\u00a0 One married one of our teachers.\u00a0 Two of our teachers, who got to know each other while they monitored the hallways from adjacent classrooms, married.<\/p>\n<p>So a good percentage of our class attended.\u00a0 Some were easy to recognize and remember the name, others we knew the face, but thank goodness for nametags.\u00a0 Some, well, really thank goodness for nametags.<\/p>\n<p>We had skipped quite a few reunions due to shyness, and not being sure about\u00a0some extra pounds and wrinkles.\u00a0 But, in the end, it didn't matter, some looked better, others did not.\u00a0 Hair, and having some, or not, seemed more defining as far as looks go.<\/p>\n<p>The important thing was being there, sharing old times and talking about then and now.\u00a0 There was a high level of comfort and everyone was ready to chat with everyone, no icebreakers needed.\u00a0 It was one of the best times in our lives.\u00a0 We're sorry we skipped so many.<\/p>\n<p>While we went to a school much smaller than Framingham's, we'd still recommend going to a Framingham reunion, because there are so many places and experiences here to\u00a0 reminisce about and savor.\u00a0 Not to mention that many fabulous and solid\u00a0people call Framingham their hometown and a reunion is a great way to reconnect, if only for a few hours.<\/p>\n<p>We welcome notices of class reunions.\u00a0 Organizers are welcome to post them on the community calendar and to email us notices at <a href=\"mailto:info@framingham.com\">info@framingham.com<\/a>.\u00a0 We'd also\u00a0love to\u00a0receive stories about Framingham's class reunions.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This past weekend we went to a class reunion weekend.\u00a0 Wow.\u00a0 It was an uplifting experience.\u00a0 We had conversations with people we only knew slightly in high school, but it didn&#8217;t matter.\u00a0 We shared many common bonds, experiences, and viewpoints.
