{"id":274,"date":"2010-01-06T20:58:09","date_gmt":"2010-01-07T01:58:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/framingham.com\/wordpress\/?p=274"},"modified":"2010-04-05T22:48:35","modified_gmt":"2010-04-06T03:48:35","slug":"all-in-the-family","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.framingham.com\/news\/2010\/01\/06\/around-town\/all-in-the-family\/","title":{"rendered":"Framingham Loses Two Community Activists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>FRAMINGHAM, MA<\/strong> - Within the last few days Framingham\u00a0lost two people who were active\u00a0\u00a0in the community:\u00a0 Ruth Gordon, and Jim Friel.\u00a0 I didn't know either one of them, but I do know some members of their families and it is clear that the parents passed on the\u00a0baton of serving the community to their offspring.<\/p>\n<p>I look to my own parents, who were active volunteers in Little League, scouts, PTA, Board of Health, and Board of Library Trustees, as well as community activists and\u00a0planted the seeds of service\u00a0in my siblings and me.<\/p>\n<p>Not enough people are thanked and\u00a0acknowledged for their contributions.\u00a0\u00a0 I was thinking about that today when I was talking with Kathy Foran about her advertising.\u00a0 I thanked her and mentioned how I appreciated all the\u00a0donations and service that she and her siblings and her parents had put into the community.<\/p>\n<p>There are a lot of business people in Framingham that have done well, but not as many like Kathy, that also do good.<\/p>\n<p>And I'd like to\u00a0note that,\u00a0by and large, the people who have been sponsoring advertisers of \u00a0framingham.com are active in the community and deserving of your business.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FRAMINGHAM, MA &#8211; Within the last few days Framingham\u00a0lost two people who were active\u00a0\u00a0in the community:\u00a0 Ruth Gordon, and Jim Friel.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t know either one of them, but I do know some members of their families and it is clear that the parents passed on the\u00a0baton of serving the community to their offspring.
