District lines need to be redrawn to reduce the total from ten districts to nine.<\/p>\n<p>The current legislators representing Framingham; State Sen.<strong> Karen Spilka<\/strong>, (D-Ashland), a Member of the Special Joint Committee on Redistricting, along with State Reps. <strong>Tom  Sannicandro<\/strong> (D-Ashland),\u00a0 and State Rep. <strong>Chris Walsh<\/strong> (D-Framingham), US Rep. <strong>Ed Markey<\/strong> (MA-7th), and several other other MA legislators will be holding a <strong>public forum to discuss redistricting, Saturday, June 18, 2011<\/strong>, <!--more-->from 10:00am to 2:00pm in the McCarthy Center at Framingham State University, 100 State St., Framingham, MA.<\/p>\n<p>To accomplish the redistricting, the state must be divided up into areas  with proportionate population.\u00a0 Aside from losing one State  Representative, residents in the newly created districts may find themselves voting for a State Senator and  filling Governor's Council  seats along with other towns or cities there were not in the same  district as those established using the current Congressional Districts map.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This will be the only redistricting hearing in the MetroWest region<\/strong> and  legislators are urging their constituents to attend the hearing. It is  an opportunity for concerned citizens to learn more about what  redistricting means for them and their communities.
