This bill seeks to <!--more-->streamline the state\u2019s approach to economic development and create a more stable and consistent environment for businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Senate Bill 2270 creates a new MetroWest Tourism and Visitors Bureau, designed to highlight the region while reinvesting its tourism-related revenue in MetroWest. It also creates a new model of \u2018one stop shopping\u2019 for businesses wishing to grow, locate or remain in Massachusetts. To provide a boost to small businesses, it reduces costs and creates a more favorable climate for entrepreneurship. The bill also increases accountability and oversight of state agencies, quasi-publics and the state\u2019s contracts with private organizations while eliminating out-of-date agencies and the duplication of services.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Spilka, along with the Joint Committee on Economic Development and Emerging Technologies and the MetroWest Legislative Caucus, is holding a forum to give MetroWest businesses and other interested parties the opportunity to comment on this bill as it makes its way through the legislative process.
