which provides assistance to homeless U.S. veterans.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>While the music played, people could browse the tables and tents setup by cultural and civic groups along the east side of the Centre Common<\/p>\n<p>This week, <strong>Framingham Board of Health Nurse Kitty Mahoney<\/strong> and <strong>Peter Harvel, Director of Framingham Veterans Services<\/strong> organized a drop-off for concert goers to donate new white socks which in-turn will be donated to the <strong>Veterans of America - Massachusetts<\/strong> organization's <a title=\"Operation Stand Down - Homeless Veterans Program\" href=\"http:\/\/www.voamass.org\/Services\/Veterans-Services\/Operation-Stand-Down-2\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Operation Stand Down<\/strong><\/a> -- a grassroots effort to help homeless veterans \"<em>combat<\/em>\" life on the streets.<\/p>\n<p>At another table the\u00a0 <strong>Framingham VFW<\/strong>, (Post 929), ran a 50\/50 fund-raising raffle.<\/p>\n<p>One of the popular displays is the exhibit and information tent setup by the\u00a0 <strong>Framingham Artists Guild <\/strong>which features different member artist's work each week.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>(Note: you can click on the photo below to enlarge them and view all as a slide show)<\/em><\/p>\n<table border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"4\" align=\"center\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<p><div id=\"attachment_4973\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.framingham.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/20110715-kevin-mcgovern-01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4973\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4973\" title=\"Framingham Artist &amp; The Framingham artist also has painted portraits of the Captains of the BC Eagles Hockey Team for the past 17 years. Each year his work is presented to the player&#39;s family at the end of each season. Many of his works have nautical themes such as this Tall Ship done in ink and acrylic. During the concert he worked on painting of a rowboat in a harbor scene.<\/p><\/div><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Members of the <strong>Framingham Public Library Foundation, Inc<\/strong>. setup a table and a display showing architect drawings and fund-raising info for a proposed new <strong>McAuliffe Library<\/strong> in Nobscot.<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pastor Debbie Clark<\/strong> and friends from <strong>Edwards Church<\/strong> in Saxonville were welcoming members of the community to visit the church which also hosts many non-religious events such as an \"<strong>Earth Care Potluck Supper<\/strong>\",<em> (on Saturday July 16th, 2011)<\/em>, when the group will serve foods prepared from organic vegetables grown at Stearn's Farm and discuss the film <em>\"Coal Country\"<\/em> which was recently screened by the Framingham Sierra Club at the Framingham Library.<\/p>\n<table border=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"4\" of the common <strong>Mark Curtis<\/strong> and crew served up food and drinks at the <strong>Eagle's All American Grill<\/strong> concession stand.
