THE HEAT WAVE WILL LIKELY BREAK SUNDAY......HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM EDT THIS EVENING......<strong>EXCESSIVE HEAT MAY LEAD TO HEAT ILLNESSES FOR CHILDREN...THE ELDERLY AND THOSE PERFORMING STRENUOUS PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES<\/strong> DURING THE HEAT OF THE DAY.<\/em>\"<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In response, the <strong>Town of Framingham<\/strong> has sent our news alerts about \"Cooling Locations\" where anyone who needs to \"<em>seek shelter\/relief from the unusual heat and humidity<\/em>\" may go.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the Framingham Park &amp; Rec Department has<!--more--> issued an advisory that Waushakum Beach is closed due to poor water quality, and that they will open the Keefe Tech Pool tomorrow so residents may use it instead-<\/p>\n<h2>List of Cooling Locations:<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Thursday, July 21, 2011:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Framingham Town Hall<\/strong><em> (Memorial Building)<\/em> will be open until 11 PM<\/li>\n<li><strong>Callahan Senior Center<\/strong><em> (475 Union Ave)<\/em> will be open until 8 PM<\/li>\n<li><strong>McAuliffe Branch Library<\/strong> <em>(Corner of Nicholas Rd &amp; Water St.)<\/em>, will be open until 9 PM<\/li>\n<li><strong>Main Library<\/strong> <em>(Lexington St.)<\/em> will be open until 9 PM<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Friday, July 22, 2011<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Framingham Town Hall<\/strong><em> (Memorial Building)<\/em> will be open until 5 PM<\/li>\n<li><strong>Callahan Senior Center<\/strong> <em> (475 Union Ave) <\/em>will be open until 8 PM<\/li>\n<li><strong>McAuliffe Branch Library<\/strong><em>(Corner of Nicholas Rd &amp; Water St.)<\/em>,<em> <\/em>will be open until 5 PM<\/li>\n<li><strong>Main Library<\/strong> (<em>Lexington St., <\/em>Costin Room) will be open until 8 PM<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Info About Beaches &amp; Keefe Tech Pool:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Due to poor water quality,<strong> swimming at Waushakum Beach <\/strong><em>(Nipmuc Rd.)<\/em><strong> will not be allowed<\/strong> until the Board of Health re-tests the water.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Saxonville Beach <\/strong><em>(Lake Rd.)<\/em><strong> or Learned Pond <\/strong><em>(Shawmut Terrace)<\/em> are both open from\u00a0 10:00a.m. 'til 7:00p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Keefe Tech Pool<\/strong> <em>(corner of Winter St. and Fountain St.)<\/em> will be open for public use on Friday, July 22, 2011 from 7:30-9:30pm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>MA DEP Air Quality Advisory:<\/h2>\n<p>Due to the <strong>high heat and humidity<\/strong>, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, <em>(MA \"DEP\"),<\/em> has also issued a <strong>Air Quality Advisory<\/strong> regarding ozone and \"fine particles\" for those in who are sensitive to such conditions, <em>(elderly persons, small children, people with respiratory health concerns, etc).<\/em> The advisory states that such persons \"should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion outdoors\", and that [normally healthy individuals] in the general public\u00a0 are <em>\"not likely to be affected when the AQI is in this range.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Information for this article was supplied by NOAA, the Massachusetts DEP, and the Town of Framingham.\u00a0 For additional information visit the NOAA Weather Alerts page at: <\/em><a title=\"NOAA Weather Alerts\" href=\"http:\/\/alerts.weather.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\">alerts.weather.gov<\/a><em>, The Mass.
