Swingin' Tenors, 2 Artists, 1 Night of Fun On Common"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>FRAMINGHAM, MA<\/strong> - The <em>\"<strong>3 Swingin' Tenors<\/strong>\"<\/em> entertained young, old and everyone in between for the July 22nd, 2011 \"<em>Concert on the Green<\/em>\", a free concert series held on the Framingham Center Common each Friday night throughout the summer.<\/p>\n<div style=\"margin: 8px auto; width: 520px; border: 2px solid black; background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% #f4f4f4; text-align: center;\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"3 Swingin&#039; Tenors - Concert on the Green - July 22, 2011 - Framingham, MA\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/xvcmZq3SsDM?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Kids play as couples dance to a 1950's doo-wop medley by the \"3 Swingin' Tenors\"<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The <em><\/em>trio The 3 Swingin' Tenors;\u00a0 Jack Alessi, Steve Marvin and Jim Porcella performed their repertoire of medleys and generational favorites -- with a few improvisational stories and a bit of joking around between sets.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Framingham Park &amp; Recreation Department<\/strong> is now in charge <!--more-->of the concerts, <em>(since Jim Egan, Director of Building Services who has been responsible for the concerts for the past 15 years is retiring soon)<\/em>, got everything setup and made sure the night went smoothly.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from the music, several groups including the <strong>Framingham Artists Guild<\/strong> had tents and tables set up on <em>The Common<\/em>.\u00a0 Each week, the guild features a couple of their member's work in miniature gallery set up in their booth.\u00a0 This week, painter <strong>Brother Eugene DeLauro<\/strong>,<em> (of the Sons of Mary Missioners)<\/em>, and <strong>Polly Meltzer<\/strong>, a Sudbury watercolor artist were featured.<\/p>\n<p>DeLauro, who has been a involved with the <em>Sons of Mary<\/em> since the 1950's works in oils and paints subjects from nature and portrait work had several of his works on display including a view of Farm Pond.\u00a0 DeLauro has been a member of the Framingham Artist Guild for the past 15-16 years.<\/p>\n<p>Meltzer, who primarily creates floral scenes, images of birds, insects, wildlife and an occasional nautical image was working on a watercolor scene of a turtle sunning itself on a log.\u00a0 Meltzer had several sets of note-cards on hand which feature reduced size reproductions of her work.\u00a0 Meltzer who is retired has been a member of the Framingham Artist Guild for the Committee<\/strong> who were promoting six diffrerent Democrat candidates who will vie for Scott Brown's U.S. Senate seat in the 2012 election.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FPAC-TV<\/strong> had the mobile studio truck on site and were giving tours during the night.<\/p>\n<p>If anyone was hungry there was plenty to eat -- <em><strong>\"Concert Cookies<\/strong>\"<\/em> from Plymouth Church, and of course -- <strong>Mark &amp; Karen Curtis<\/strong><em> (and family)<\/em> were on hand cooking up burgers, hot dogs, sausage sandwiches and serving cold drinks and snacks from the <strong>Eagle's All American concert-goer at Framingham Centre Common<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Dave &amp; Barbara Sherman<\/strong> of <strong>ReFoamit, Inc.<\/strong> had a display of their styrofoam recycling operation.\u00a0 Barabara said they now collect in excess of 1000 lbs. of styrofoam at each of their recycling events!\u00a0 According to the <a title=\"ReFoamIt - strofoam recycling, Framingham, MA\" href=\"http:\/\/www.refoamit.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">ReFoamIt website<\/a>, <em>\"When it [styrofoam] is burned, it creates a toxic ash and if it is put in landfills, it never breaks down.\u00a0\u00a0Recycling is the only solution.\"<\/em><\/p>\n<p>There was a little something for everyone -- music, dancing, food, drinks and spending some quality time outdoors with old and new
