Some scholarships have multiple recipients. Scholarships and loan funding are provided by donations and bequests.<\/p>\n<p>This year IAFSA is granting awards to a record 68 Framingham State University students. Scholarships range from $250 to $2,500. Recipients were chosen based upon their area of study, academic achievement, financial need, hometown, and campus involvement.<\/p>\n<p>Two <strong>Framingham<\/strong> residents received awards. <strong>John McNeil<\/strong> was selected to receive the <em>Cannes Internship Scholarship<\/em> which makes it possible for qualified students to participate in the Cannes International Film Festival program through an associated one credit course. It was established in 2013 by an anonymous donor. <strong>Rebecca Wilson<\/strong> received <em>The Murtaugh Scholarship<\/em> which was established in honor of her parents by Joan E. Murtaugh, \u201961 who taught for 36 years in the Framingham Public Schools. Graduates of any high school in Framingham may apply, with preference given to the offspring of police, fire, or military personnel.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Juliana Marra<\/strong> from <strong>Natick<\/strong> received the <em>Paul T. Murphy Memorial Scholarship<\/em> which was established by<!--more--> the Class of 1986 in memory of their Class President, Paul T. Murphy, who was stricken and died suddenly during his senior year. This award assists Communication Arts majors.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Marissa Gross<\/strong> and<strong> Devan Salvon<\/strong> of <strong>Hopkinton<\/strong> were awarded the <em>David and Margaret Foley Scholarship<\/em>. This scholarship was established by Margaret F. Harris and David J. Foley in memory of their parents. Margaret E. (Madigan) Foley, \u201926, was a lifelong resident of Hopkinton who graduated from Framingham Normal School (now Framingham State University) and taught for 42 years in the Hopkinton Public Schools.<br \/>\nDavid A. Foley, a retired postal employee and long time resident of Hopkinton, ran the College Bookstore at Framingham State in the late 1960\u2019s. Both were deeply interested in the Hopkinton Public Schools and the education of future teachers.
