FRAMINGHAM, MA<\/strong> -- Today Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker announced affordable housing awards for 28 projects in 21 communities across the Commonwealth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n One recipients of an affordable rental housing award is Carlson Crossing<\/strong>, a Framingham, MA family public housing project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Using MA Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) low-income housing tax credits and Section 8 assistance from the U.S.\u202fDept.\u202fof Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the sponsor, the non-profit Framingham Housing Development Corp will fully rehabilitate Carlson Crossing which was originally built in 1957 and is need of considerable repairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When construction is completed, the project will offer all 68\u202funits as affordable housing for households earning less than 30% of AMI, (Area Median Income)<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAs Massachusetts continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic, it is important that we continue to prioritize new affordable housing development to help our most vulnerable families,\u201d said Governor Baker. \u201cStable housing is the foundation of healthy, prosperous communities, which is why our administration has proposed an immediate infusion of nearly $1 billion in federal recovery funds to rapidly increase capacity for production in every part of the state.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHere in Massachusetts, we have seen the negative impacts of our housing crisis affect nearly every region. Through our new Housing Choice reforms, new programs, and increased capital investments, the Baker-Polito Administration is helping move great projects forward, more quickly,\u201d said Housing and Economic Development Secretary Kennealy. \u201cSolving our housing crisis helps all of our households, enabling our working families to put down roots in communities, stabilize vulnerable families, and provide opportunities for cities and town to grow.
