"Nobscot" comes from the Algonquin Indian word "Penobscot" which means "place of falling rocks" and the Nobscot area takes its name from the nearby Nobscot Hill, where the Knox Trail Boy Scout Reservation is located.
Nobscot Shopping Plaza is located on Water St., just east of the intersection of Edgell Rd. & Water St. Follow Edgell Rd. north from Rt. 9, turn right at stop lights, and entrance is on your right.

Former Nobscot Post Office & Library
This was the first Framingham Post office and it was
opened June 18, 1878. The Post Office doors
closed in 1933. However in 1905 the Framingham
Pubic Library took over half of this small building,
which is only 12 X 24-feet. It was called
the Nobscot Depository and it was closed in 1953.
At the rear window you could also purchase your railroad
tickets. This building was totally utilized
and it has been saved. It
was moved from its location near the railroad bed to
the other side of Water St. where it is nestled in between
Heritage and the Hemenway school. For more information,
