2003 Spring Yard Waste Collection
Instructions & Schedule


Please read carefully and follow the guidelines below to insure proper collection.


1. Residential yard waste or brush will be picked up at curbside on a seasonally scheduled basis.   Yard waste or brush will be picked up by a separate collection vehicle on the same day as the weekly household pick-up.

2. These pick-ups will be done the same weeks every year.   The Fall leaf and yard waste pick-up will always be set for the last full week in October and continue for five weeks.   The Fall brush collection will be set for the week before and the week after Thanksgiving week.   The Spring leaf and yard waste collection will always be set for the last full week in April and the second full week in May.   The Spring brush pick-up will always be set for the third full week in June.   Christmas tree pick-up will always be held on the second full week in January.   Hazardous Waste Day is the second Saturday in May. (May 11 at former Farley School on Normandy Rd.)

3. Yard waste will only be collected from approved specially designed biodegradable bags or covered 30 gallon plastic or metal barrels clearly marked "YARD WASTE" and weighing forty pounds or less.   NOTE: Loose yard waste, containers weighing over forty pounds or yard waste in pIastic trash bags will be left at the curbside and will not be collected.

4. Special "Town of Framingham " biodegradable bags may be purchased for $0.25 each at the Recycling Center on Mt. Wayte Ave. and from a variety of retail establishments throughout the Town.

5. Yard waste is defined as leaves, grass and non-woody organic garden waste only.   No dirt, sand, sod or rocks allowed.   Leaf bags containing these Items will be left at the curbside and will not be collected.

6. Brush is wood waste from bushes and trees that is less than four inches (4") diameter.

7. Brush must be tied and bundled in lengths less than four feet long and weigh forty pounds or less.   NOTE: Loose untied brush. bundles longer than four fleet or bundles weighing more than 40 pounds will be left at the curbside and will not be collected.

8. The Town accepts leaves and grass year round at the Mt. Wayte Ave. Recycling Center on Fridays and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and Sundays from 11 :00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

9. The Brush Dump will only be open during the spring and fall to coincide with the yard waste collection schedule.   The Brush Dump will be open the same hours as the Recycle Center.   The dump will be open starting Friday March 28, 2003.

A $10.00 Dump Sticker is required (valid annually July through June) for annual use of the Drop-off / Recycle Center and can be purchased at the Recycle Center.   This sticker is provided to Framingham residents only.

Curbside Yard Waste collections take place only on the weeks above and only on your regular trash day.

The Recycle Center on Mt. Wayte Ave. always accepts
leaves and grass year round on Fridays & Saturdays
8am-3pm & Sundays 11am-3pm



The Brush Dump
The Brush dump will open to coincide with the yard waste collection schedule during the same hours as the Recycle Center on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays starting Friday March 28 and continuing through Sunday June 22,2003.

There will be no collections - rubbish or yard
waste - on the above holidays. Collections on or
following a holiday will be done one day later for
the remainder of that week.




Did you Know?.....
Because of the Mercury they contain, it is illegal to dispose of flourescent light bulbs in the trash.   Instead bring them to the Mt. Wayte Recycle Center for disposal free of charge

The Mt. Wayte Recycle Center also accepts used clothing,plastics # 1 = # 7, paper and cardboard, old paint, used oil, motor oil, anti-freeze, oil filters, car batteries and Ni-Cad batteries for recycling.

Appliances, furniture, rugs, mattresses & box springs, tires, televisions & computer monitors are collected curbside for a fee. You may also bring these items to the Recycle Center on Mt. Wayte Ave. free of charge except for sleep sofas, tires, televisions & computer monitors and items containing freon (refrigerators, A/C's, etc.) which require a fee.
