2000 WINTER PROGRAMS

 

 

Adult & Family Trips - Atlantic City: Feb. 23 - 25, 2000. Upcoming lists available in February.

Annual Basketball Clinic - 27th Annual Basketball Clinic for grades 4 - 9 students. Instruction in individual skill development and team play. Registration begins at 9:00 AM on Feb. 9, 2000 at the Recreation office. Clinic starts March 2nd and continues for 6 Thursdays from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Walsh Middle School. The fee is $30.

Basketball Clinic - Grades 5-8. Sunday, December 5, 1999, 1:00-2:30 P.M. Framingham High School. All league participants and coaches are invited to attend.  No fee.

Basketball Grades 1-3 - Boys and Girls. Begins Saturday, January 8th at the Stapleton School. 9:30-11:00, 11:00-12:30, 12:30-2:00 P.M. (2:00-3:30 P.M. for Girls) - 6 weeks $20.00.      Individual skill development and limited team play will be the focus. Register at the Park & Recreation Office beginning December 9, 1999.

Basketball Grades 4-6 - Begins Saturday, January 8th at the Hemenway School. 9:00-10:30, 10:30-12:00, (12:00-1:30 P.M. for Girls)  6 weeks $20.00. Individual skill development and limited team play will be the focus. Register at the Park & Recreation Office beginning Dec. 9, 1999.

Baton - Ages 5 and up. Classes held between 6:00 - 9:30 P.M. on Wednesdays at the Hemenway Gym. Register at the Gym on January 5, 2000 at 6:00 P.M.  $45.00 per 5 month session.   

Bonfire-  Wednesday, November 24th, 6:30 P.M. at Bowditch Field.

Bowditch Track Lights - Nightly for Joggers & Walkers from Dusk -10:00 PM weather permitting.

Ki Boxing - Adult Kick Boxing program: study of inner strength includes aerobic workout, muscle toning and stretching; T’ai Chi relaxation techniques. Tuesdays & Thursdays, 7:00 - 7:45 P.M. begins Jan. 11th, 6 wks./12 classes, $50.00., Register Dec. 9th.

Dance - Dancing Stories for ages 3 & 4, Mondays at 3:00. Creative Jazz for ages 5-7, Mondays  at 4:00 P.M. Both at Danforth Gym beginning January 24th, 6 weeks $30.00. Register Dec. 9th at the Park & Recreation office.

Esperanza - Ages 5-11 after school program. Woodrow Wilson School, Held on Mondays from 3:30 - 4:30 P.M. Free. Register at Woodrow Wilson School.

Festival of Lights -  November 21st. Day trip to the Yankee Candle Factory, Holiday Luncheon, and a ride through Forest Park, New England’s largest display of Lights. $49.00.

First Night- Dec. 31st -Town wide celebration.Call Betty Gavin (875-1566) for schedule of events.

Golf (Indoor) - Classes for Adults and High School age. All levels of instruction; Six 1- hour lessons for $30. Classes meet 4:00, 5:00, 6:00 or 7:00 P.M. Sunday evenings at Danforth Gym beginning March 5th. Register beg. Dec. 9th at the Park & Rec. Office. 

Kids Crafts - Ages 2 - 4; Wednesdays: 9:30 or 10:30. Classes begin Jan. 26th at the Park & Rec. Office. 6 wks. for $25. Register December 9th at the Park & Rec. Office.

Open Gym Schedule- Schedule will run through the Winter months.

2nd  Session in February. Register at the Park & Recreation Office Dec. 9th.

Gymnastics Grades 4-8 - Classes held on Wednesday, 4:30-5:30, Thursday 4:30-5:30 or Saturday 4:00-5:00 at the Gymnastics Training Center. 6 weeks $60.00 begins January 5th.

2nd Session in February.  Register at the Park & Recreation Office Dec. 9th.

Horseback Riding Lessons - Ages 8 - Adult. Classes on Sundays, Noon-1:00 P.M. at the Glean Maura Farm. Classes begin Jan. 9, 2000; 5 wks. $120. Register Dec. 9th, at the Rec. Office.

Lacrosse - Boys youth lacrosse grades 5-8 (ages 10 - 14). Register January 5, 2000 at the Park & Recreation office. Program begins March 13, 2000 through the end of May. Practices 2 times a week. $60 resident/$70 non-resident. Participants need to provide stick, gloves, helmet, mouthpiece, shoulder pads, arm pads.

Pre-School Playgroups- informal group play, social interaction at the Cushing Building. Must be required age by July 1, 1999.

         Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays       age  2              9:45-11:15

Registration begins Dec. 9th and will be ongoing at the Park & Rec. office. 10 weeks for $30. Classes begin the week of January 3rd. Proof of age required to register.

"Santa's Little Sports" - Re-create the Christmas Spirit with the Recreation Department. If you know a needy family, names will be taken Nov. 8 - Dec. 3rd. Please call the office at 620-4834. If you'd like to donate a toy for a child (Birth - 12 yrs. of age), please drop off at the Recreation office any time until December 10, 1999. Office open Monday-Friday from 9:00 - 5:00 PM.

Senior Citizen Swim-Saturdays, 2:00-3:00 P.M. Keefe Pool. No Fee. Program ongoing thru April. Pool will be closed 12/11, 12/25, 1/1, 2/19, 3/4.

Senior Citizen Exercise-Tuesdays 10-11:00 A.M. at Danforth Gym. No Fee. Program is ongoing.

Skating - ages 5-10. Registration December 6th, 6:00 - 7:30 P.M. at the Park & Rec.  Office. Lessons held on Saturdays at Loring Arena 9:00 & 10:00 A.M.  6 wks. for $25. Beg. Jan. 8th.

Hockey: - ages 5-10. Registration Dec. 6th,  6:00-7:30 PM. at the Park & Rec. Office. Lessons held on Saturdays at Loring Arena from 10:00-11:00 AM, 6 wks. for $25. Begins Jan. 8, 2000.

Public Skating - Mon.&-Wed.10-2; Tues., Thurs & Fri. 10-12; Sat & Sun 2:00-3:45. $3/Adults, $2/12 & Under.  Stick time-Tues. & Thurs. -12:15-2:00 PM - $5.00. Call 620-4877 for info.

Public Swim Keefe Pool: - October through April. Saturdays 3:00-4:30 and Sundays 2:00 - 3:30 P.M. $2.00 entrance fee. Schedule subject to change. Pool will be closed 12/11, 12/12, 12/25, 1/1, 2/19, 2/20, 3/4, 3/12.

Swim Lessons: - Pre-School (ages 3 & 4 ) to Adult Levels.

Register at the Park and Recreation Office on Feb. 17, 2000 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. $30.00 for Framingham Residents; Classes will begin March 11th and continue for 8 weeks.

Lifeguard Training:-  Ages 15 and up. Saturdays 12:30 to 3:30 P.M., beginning March 11, 2000.  Register Thursday EVENING, February 17th from 6:00-8:00 P.M. 

Ski Lessons -  Register December 4, 1999; 9:00 - 11:00 A.M. at the Park and Recreation Office.

Nashoba Valley - Grades 4-12, Sunday mornings 7:30-1:30 P.M. Transportation from Bowditch Field, 1 hr. lesson and 2 hrs. of skiing for 6 wks.; $150 (rentals $50 extra) 1st lesson Jan. 9, 2000

Ski Ward - Grades 2-12, Thursday afternoons; 3:30-6:30 P.M.; transportation from Bowditch Field, 1 hour ski lesson for 5 weeks -$100 (rentals $50 extra);  1st lesson January 6, 2000.          

X-Country Ski Clinic - Call after January 10, 2000 for details.

Snow Boarding - Grades 4-12, Sundays at Nashoba Valley; 7:30 AM-1:30 PM.1 hour lesson and 2 hours of snow boarding. Transportation from Bowditch Field to Nashoba Valley. Reg. Dec. 4th from 9:00 - 11:00 AM at the Park & Rec. Office. $150 (Rentals $70 EXTRA). Begins Jan. 9, 2000

T’ai Chi Chuan- Adult Introduction class, Tuesdays 6:30 - 7:30 P.M. Classes begin January 11th  at the Brophy School. Register December 9, 1999. 10 weeks $40.00.

Tennis Lessons: (ADULT) - 8 wks. $88; Westboro Racquet Club. Classes held on Sundays  5:00-6:00, 6:00-7:00, 7:00-8:00 P.M. beg. Dec. 12th. Reg. Nov. 23 at the Park & Rec. Office.   

Tennis Lessons: (YOUTH) - 8 weeks $88 at the Westboro Racquet Club. Classes are held on Sundays from 12:00-1:00 P.M. for ages 6-9 and 1:00-2:00 P.M. for ages 10-17.  Classes begin Dec. 12, 1999.  Registration begins Nov. 23rd at the Park and Recreation Office.

School Vacation Open Gym - Danforth Gym. December 27, 28, & 29; 2:30 - 3:30 P.M. Informal Basketball for all school ages.          

Winter Craft Workshop - Adults, Dec. 6th from 5-7 PM at the Park & Recreation Office.  Make a  WINTER/HOLIDAY SWEATSHIRT, all materials included for $25. Register  beg. Nov. 23rd.

Yoga:  (ADULTS)-Mondays, 6:00-7:15 PM at the Brophy Gym; 6 wks. $30; begins Jan. 10, 2000  Register at the Park & Recreation Office December 9, 1999.

‘Cabin Fever Sports Festival’ - The Framingham Little - Big League, in conjunction with Framingham Babe Ruth will host this event at ADESA Auto Auction on February 5, 2000.

REGISTRATION ON FIRST DAY FOR FRAMINGHAM RESIDENTS, SECOND DAY IF SPACE IS AVAILABLE  FOR NON-RESIDENTS. REGISTRATIONS ARE HELD AT THE RECREATION OFFICE ON 475 UNION AVE., UNLESS NOTED.
