1999 Spring / Summer Activities

  • ADULT TRIPS: Includes Round-trip Transportation, Accommodations, and some meals.

  • AEROBICS & BODY TONING: Adults. Mondays and Wednesdays (Aerobics) 6:00-6:45P.M. (Body toning) 7:00-7:45 P.M., 7 weeks, $42.00 for one class; $75.00 if signing up for both Aerobics and Body Toning. Classes held outdoors at Bowditch beginning July 7th. Register May 20th.

  • ART WORKSHOPS: Classes held for Adults; either August 10th or 17th from 9:00-12:00 noon. $20.00 includes supplies. Register July 7th at the Recreation Office. Classes held at the Recreation Office.

  • BABY SITTING CLASS: Ages 11-15, April 26th-May 17th; Mon. 3:30-5:30. 4 wks/$25. Reg. March 23rd.

  • BASKETBALL CLINIC: Ages 7-16 for girls; ages 7-15 for boys beginning June 21st for 5 days, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Full day of Skill Development, $95.00 resident, $105 non-resident. Reg. May 20th.

  • CAMP ARROWHEAD: Day Camp for physically challenged youths, Natick, MA. Registration information by calling 620-4834 in early May.

  • CAMP McCARTHY: Special Needs Day camp. Activities encourage social interaction and emotional development. To register call in early May for information. Appointment needed for first year campers.

  • CARDIO KICK-BOXING: Adult program inclusive of aerobic workout, muscle toning and stretching. Mondays & Wednesdays, 7:45-8:30 PM beginning March 29th, 6 wks./12 classes, $50. Reg. March 11th.

  • DANCE: Dancing Stories for ages 3 & 4, Tuesdays at 3:00 P.M.; Creative Jazz ages 5-7, at 4:00 P.M.. Held at Danforth Gym beginning April 27th. 6 weeks $30.00. Register March 23, 1999.

  • ESPERANZA: Ages 5-11, Mondays, through May 10th. 3:15-4:15 P.M., Woodrow Wilson School. Free

  • DAY TRIPS: May 8th, Boston Duck Tour; July 24th, Nantucket; Aug. 12th, Huckleberry Finn, Conn; October 16th, Ellis Island. Ongoing registration at Recreation Office.

  • GOLF LESSONS: Adult. Outdoor lessons at Framingham Country Club. Register April 15th at Rec. Office. Prices and times TBA.

  • GREEN UP DAY- Town beautification day. May 1, 1999. Contact Matt Zettek 877-7827 for info.

  • HORSEBACK RIDING CLASSES: Ages 8 - Adult. Classes held on Sundays Noon-1:00 P.M. at the Glean Maura Farm, Ashland. Classes begin April 25th. 5 weeks, $120.00. Registration begins March 23rd.

  • KARATE: Ages 6-13, Saturdays, 1:00-1:50 P.M. beginning April 24th. Register at Recreation Office beginning March 23rd. 6 weeks $35.00. Classes held at the Studio, 885 Waverly Street.

  • KEEFE POOL: Public Swim Saturdays 3:00 - 4:30 and Sundays 2:00 - 3:30, $2.00 fee. Ends May 16th.

  • KEYBOARD: Grades 2-4, Mondays 3:30 - 4:30 P.M., 5 lessons, begins May 3rd, $30.00. Classes taught by Paula Giles, Bachelor of Music Education. Register March 23rd at the Recreation Office.

  • KEYBOARD/ADULT: Introduction class, Wednesdays, 9:00-10:00 A.M. Starts May 5th. 5 lessons/$45. Register March 23rd at the Rec.Office. Summer classes start Mon., July 19th; 7:00-8:00 PM.Reg.May 20th.

  • KIDS CRAFTS:Ages 2 - 4, Wednesdays 9:30-10:15 A.M. or 10:30 -11:15 A.M., at the Recreation Dept. Classes begin April 28th. Register at the Recreation Office, March 23rd. 6 weeks $20.00.

  • LACROSSE CLINIC:Grades 6-8. Boys and girls. Monday through Friday, 9:00 -11:00 for 2 consecutive weeks. Registration begins June 9th. Clinic begins July 6th - $30.00.

  • MEN'S SLOW PITCH SOFTBALL: 40 Teams, 4 divisions. Team registration $750. Pick up rosters on March 1st at the Recreation Office. Return by March 26th.

  • P.A.L. LEAGUE: Police Athletic Basketball League, ages 9-17, Monday, Wednesday, Woodrow Wilson 6:00-8:00 P.M. and Thursdays at the Danforth Gym from 7-9 P.M.

  • PRE-SCHOOL PLAYGROUPS:Ages 21/2 - 41/2, informal group play, social interaction held at the McCarthy School. Registration begins March 23rd at the Rec.office. 9 weeks for $27. Classes begin the week of April 5th. New children accepted on a space available basis.

  • PUBLIC BEACHES: Beach Tags on Sale- Monday June 14th, 5:00 - 6:30 P.M., Saturday June 19th 9:30 - 11:00 A.M. $10.00 per resident, Maximum of $30.00 per family. Non-resident rates available. Waushakum Beach located off Nipmuc Road - Learneds Pond located off Lower Shawmut Terrace - Saxonville Beach located off Lake Road. Beaches will open June 24, 1999 through August 19, 1999, 10:00 A.M. - 7:00 P.M.

  • SENIOR CITIZEN EXERCISE: Tuesdays, l0:00 - 11:00 A.M. Danforth Gym. No fee.

  • SENIOR CITIZEN SOFTBALL: 55 & older, League Play. Register beginning March 11th. $50.00

  • SWIM LESSONS: Classes range from Toddler (Age 3) to Level 7. Register July 1st, 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. at the Recreation Office. 8 lessons - $25.00, 1st session begins July 6th. Second session begins July 26th. Register for second session July 21, 9:30 -11:00 A.M. at Rec. Office. Lessons held at the Beaches.

  • SKYHAWK SPORTS ACADEMY: Ages 7-14, Golf August 2-6, $80.00, Roller Hockey August 9-13, $85.00, and Flag Football August 23-27, $80.00. Programs run Monday-Friday from 9:00 A.M. - noon.

  • SKYLINE: Programs for persons with disabilities. Bowling, Art, Sports etc. call 651-7267.

  • SOCCER CLINICS:

    • JOHN SMITH SOCCER:Ages 5-17, July 19-23, 9:00 A.M.-Noon or 1:00-4:00 P.M. $89.00 at the Musterfield. Each camper receives a T-shirt and soccer ball. Register April 27th at the Park and Recreation Office.
    • BAYSTATE SOCCER SCHOOL: August 16 - 20, 1999. 5:00-8:00 PM for High School ages & College Freshman. Cost $50. Location TBA. Register April 27th at the Recreation Office.

  • SUMMER RECREATION CENTERS:Ages 5 - l3. Monday through Friday. 9:00 - 3:30 P.M. Activities include Arts and Crafts, Roller-skating, Bowling, Swimming, Sports and Field Trips. Locations: Barbieri and Potter Road schools. Three 2-week sessions. $130.00 each session. Register April 29, 1999 at the Park and Recreation Office. Parents are responsible for transporting child to and from the center.

  • SUPERVISED PLAYGROUNDS:Ages 5-12. Informal structure. Monday - Friday 9:00 A.M - 1:00 P.M. July 6th - August 13th. Danforth Park and Bates Road. Register at the Playground July 6th. Free

  • COMPETITIVE SWIM STROKES: Thursdays. Ages 6-11: 6:00-6:45 PM and ages 12-18: 6:45-7:30PM. $40.00 Fee. Register March 11th at the Rec. Office. 8 classes at Keefe Pool begins April 8th.

  • SWIM TEAM: Ages 6 - l8. Register at the Rec. Office on Thurs. evening, June 10th from 6:00-7:30 PM. Practice Times to be announced. $60.00 per individual; Family - $110.00 (2), $150.00 (3 or more)

  • LIGHTED TENNIS COURTS: Lighted courts available at Bowditch,Walsh and Winch Park from 6:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. beginning at the end of May through mid October.

  • YOUTH TENNIS LESSONS:: Ages 6-l6. Classes taught by Carl Croci and staff. Times vary Monday through Thursday beginning July 6th. Registration begins May 20th at the Framingham Park and Recreation Office. $42.00 registration fee.

  • ADULT TENNIS LESSONS: Classes taught by Carl Croci & staff. Times are Wednesday mornings, Mon.,Tues.,Wed., & Thurs. Evenings. 8 lessons/$52. Reg. March 23 at Rec. Dept., lessons begin May 17th.

  • OPEN GYM ADULT SCHEDULE: Schedule will run through the Summer Season. $2.00 entrance fee. Danforth Gym , Tuesdays 5:30 - 8:00 P.M.; Saturdays 4:00 - 7:00 P.M.; Sundays 5:30 - 8:00 P.M.

  • T'AI CHI CHUAN: Adult. Intermediate/advanced class 7-8 PM; beginner class 8-9 PM. Classes on Mondays beginning April 5th at the Brophy School. Register at the Rec. Office March 11th - 10wks./$40.

  • TRACK CLINIC: Ages 8-14; Wednesdays, April 28-June 2, 6:15-7:15 PM. $24.00. Register March 23rd.

  • TRACK MEETS: All ages. Register every Wednesday at 5:30 P.M. at Bowditch Track. Begins June 9th through August 11th. Sponsored by the Greater Framingham Track Club. (No meet June 30th)

  • WATER AEROBICS: Co-Ed classes held at Keefe Pool. Monday & Wednesdays 7:00-8:00 P.M. 6 weeks/ $36.00. Register March 23rd at Recreation Office. Classes begin April 26th.

  • WEIGHT LIFTING PROGRAM: Grades 8 and up. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at Framingham High School. Begins June 21st from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Register the first night. No fee.

  • WRESTLING: Ages 13-19. Wednesdays beginning March 31st, 5:30-8:00 P.M. at Framingham High School. $30.00 payable the first evening includes USA wrestling membership.

  • KARATE/Adults: Nick Cerio's Kenpo, Karate & Jujitsu. Mondays & Wednesdays 7:00-8:00 P.M.. Register May 13th. 6 wks./12 classes - $50. Classes held at 885 Waverly St. beginning July 12th.

  • YOGA: Adults, Tuesdays 6:00-7:15 P.M. at the Brophy School Gym; 6 weeks $30.00, begins April 27th. Register March 23rd at the Recreation Office.

  • Bay Path Figure Skating Club - register in early Sept. For info call Albie Minkovitz 877-2662. Programs include beginner skating, Free Style, Parent/Tot program, Adult Lessons, and precision skating teams.

  • Temple Beth Am Brotherhood Basketball League - 5th grade and up. Program includes league competition for all boys & girls. Register in early October. For more information call Steve Bell at 978-443-5222.

  • Framingham Youth Hockey - registration ongoing by calling Phil Mauch 877-8772. All levels up to 16 years of age. Beginners age 5-9.
