FRAMINGHAM  & BOSTON, MA - Piers Park Sailing in East Boston is hosting a Framingham Sailing Program sponsored by the Disability Commission of Framingham for Framingham residents ages 10 to 21 who have an Individualized Education Program,  (IEP),  or a documented medical disability.

Framingham Pharmacy Report Leads to Doctor Indictment

Dr. Kathleen Porter, who was affiliated with MetroWest Medical Center and had her medical license restricted regarding performing surgery has now been indicted on prescription drug related charges.

FRAMINGHAM, MA --- (Press Release by Middlesex D.A.'s Office) -- A Doctor was indicted today on nine counts of illegally prescribing controlled substances, Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone informed the public today.

Kathleen Porter, 59, of Needham Heights, was indicted by a Middlesex grand jury on charges of illegally prescribing controlled substances (9 counts) and furnishing false information in an application.

An arraignment date has not yet been set.

“We allege that Dr. Porter took advantage of her position and completely disregarded her patients’ obvious addictions by failing to address their pain needs in a medically responsible manner,” District Attorney Leone said.  “We further allege that the defendant acted in extremely bad faith, putting multiple peoples’ health in jeopardy by recklessly feeding their addictions with no legitimate medical purpose.”

Tom Sannicandro, (D-Ashland), will be moderating a forum, "Spotlight on Health Care: Exploring Single Payer Option" from 6:30p.m until 9:30p.m., Tuesday, July 26th, 2011 in the Forum Room of the D. Justin McCarthy Center at Framingham State University, 100 State Street, Framingham, MA.

Rep. Sannicandro will moderate a four person panel featuring Senator Jamie Eldridge, the chief sponsor of single payer legislation in the Massachusetts legislature; Ben Day, the executive director of Mass-Care, a single payer advocacy organization; Dr. Gerald Friedman, a professor of economics at the University of Massachusetts – Amherst; and Alex Robbins, a small business owner.

3-Day Ahead!

FRAMINGHAM, MA - On Friday, July 22nd, 2011, at 6:30am, for the sixth time in as many years, the starting point and opening ceremony for the Susan G. Komen "3 Day for the Cure" (Boston) walk was held Farm Pond in Framingham.

While the short time spent at Farm Pond was the offical "start", months of fund-raising, preparation and training had already been put in by those who would actually do the walk.

Although framingham.com was there to capture the event in photos, video and interviews.  Real credit for the following photos should go to the women and men who did the 60-mile walk, to those who donated time and money to the cause, and to the organizers and crew who made the event a success.

FRAMINGHAM, MA - The 2011 Susan G. Komen "3 Day for the Cure" Boston walk started yesterday morning in Framingham.

In the early morning hours, walkers, supporters, friends and family converged on the shore of Farm Pond off Dudley Rd.

At 6:30a.m., the Opening Ceremony began with group stretching, a welcome from Ronni Cohen-Boyar, Executive Director of the Massachusetts Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization, followed by an inspirational opening address given by Dr. Sheri Phillips, 2011 National Spokesperson for the Susan G. Komen organization.
