Veterans Acupuncture Care (VAC)
A local group of volunteer acupuncturists is offering free community acupuncture for veterans, active military, first responders and their families. The program addresses issues related to post combat stress such as sleep, anxiety, panic or other mood changes. VAC is located at St. Andrew's Church 3 Maple St. Framingham MA. The ongoing clinic will be open the hours of 10 a.m.-12 noon every Saturday. Last sitting is 11:30 am. Walk in. No appointment needed. Framingham History Center, Annual Meeting June 18th, 2013 at 6:00pm *** Feature Presentation: Mr. Selfridge and Mr. Dennison -- a Friendship and Business Partnership. *** Recently discovered correspondence between Mr. Charles S. Dennison and Mr. Harry Selfridge bring the current PBS Series, Mr. Selfridge, close to home. Dennison had its own department at Selfridge's of London; two Framingham women from the Dennison art department designed one of Selfridge's famous store windows for opening day in 1909, and taught English saleswomen how to fashion flowers from Dennison crepe paper. Juried shows at Danforth Art
Each year, the annual juried shows are highly anticipated, showcasing some of the top emerging talent in New England. Off the Wall has been reviewed by Art New England, artscope, Boston Globe, Boston Phoenix and many other publications. It has received attention from top curators and gallery owners throughout the region and visited by a growing number of collectors who take the opportunity to purchase work from the show.About Off the Wall: Each year Danforth Art chooses an outstanding curator who makes selections for the show that align with his or her curatorial vision. Dina Deitsch, curator of contemporary art at deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, served as the 2013 Off the Wall juror. Prior to deCordova, Deitsch was in the curatorial departments at Williams College Museum of Art and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. For Off the Wall, Deitsch chose 106 works from 96 artists. About Community of Artists: Work included in Community of Artists was chosen by Museum Director Katherine French after selections were made for Off the Wall. This year, French selected 183 works from 166 artists, making this the biggest Community of Artists exhibition ever. About Picture This!: Picture This!, will showcase 21 works from 16 children's book illustrators. These original works will be on display now in the Children's Gallery.Come to Danforth Art and see all the works on display! All juried shows run through August 4, 2013.
