FRAMINGHAM, MA -- The 2008 Framingham Rotary Club Auction — Dec. 9 & 10, 7:30–10:30 pm — features televised bidding by viewers who call in hoping to get one or more of over 400 items donated by area businesses. The Auction is televised on Framingham Public Access TV — Comcast Channel 9; Verizon Channel 43; RCN Channel 3 — and the number to call to bid is 508-202-4700.

The entire Auction proceeds go to numerous local non-profit charitable organizations. The event also provides bidders with great holiday giving opportunities.

Featured again this year will be the Internet Auction. Bidders go online at www.rotaryauction.com to see a listing of special items, some pictured, and call in their bids using the 508-202-4700 number.

The Internet Auction this year will have a special sports memorabilia section, including signed, framed pictures of Celtics, Bruins, Patriots and Red Sox stars. The public is invited to preview the memorabilia, as well as other special items, at a wine and cheese reception on December 4th, 6–8 pm, at the offices of Nelson Zide/ERA Key Realty, 1671 Worcester Road (Route 9 West, in the office building just after the Sheraton Hotel and before California Avenue).

All items for both TV and Internet auctions are listed, as they come in, at www.rotaryauction.com; these lists are now accessible to the public. Pre-bidding online for items in both Auction segments is possible beginning December 6.

Auction items include: sporting event tickets (Celtics, Bruins, Patriots, Red Sox), electronics, jewelry, vacation time-shares, sports memorabilia, appliances, furniture, restaurant and retail store gift certificates, cleaning, clothing, office equipment, services, and much more. The full item listing, as well as instructions on how to bid, will be published in a special 4-page supplement in the MetroWest Daily News on Sunday, December 7.

Organizations assisted by Rotary grants in recent years include: The Boys and Girls Club of MetroWest; Programs for People; Boy Scouts of America/Knox Trail Council; Danforth Museum of Art; Bay Path Elder Services; A Place To Turn; Framingham Public Library; Natick Visiting Nurse Association; South Middlesex Branch, NAACP; A Suitable Image; Downtown Solutions; and the MetroWest Latin American Center.
