FDA Recalls Many Brands of Ice Cream For Possible Listeria
FRAMINGHAM, MA -- Local shoppers (and retailers) should note that the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) released a list of dozens of popular ice cream products recalled for possible Listeria health risks.
Ice cream varieties, novelties, sizes and flavors manufactured by Totally Cool, Inc. include more than 50 different products sold under dozens of brand names including: Friendly’s Ice Cream, Abilyn’s Frozen Bakery, Hershey’s Ice Cream, Yelloh!, Jeni's, Cumberland Farms Ice Cream, The Frozen Farmer, Marco, ChipWich, AMAFruits, LaSalle, Dolcezza Gelato and Taharka.
According to the FDA, "Totally Cool, Inc. of Owings Mills, Maryland is recalling multiple brands of ice cream products, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems."
Not all flavors, package sizes, novelty types, from these brands are being recalled -- just the ones made by Totally Cool, Inc.
