FSU RAMS Softball Swings Past Bridgewater State 3-1 and 9-1

FRAMINGHAM, MA -- The Framingham State University softball team swept a doubleheader with Bridgewater State University this afternoon at Maple Street Field. The Rams took the opener by a score of 3-1 before their bats came alive in a game two 9-1 five inning victory.

GAME 1:

In the opener, the Rams got on the board in the bottom of the first inning with a pair of runs on RBI singles from Laela Pepin and Kirsten Dick.

The Bears cut the deficit in half on a solo home run to deep center off the bat of Morgan Cournoyer.

The Rams tacked on an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single from Grace Swanson to reach the final margin, 3-1. Swanson, Pepin and Camille Desrochers finished the opener with two hits apiece, while Madelyn Kingel finished with two hits for the Bears.

Ally Moran earned the victory in the circle for the Rams going seven innings allowing one earned run on six hits with four strikeouts. Kelley Reichert took the loss for the Bears going six innings allowing three runs, one earned, on 10 hits.

GAME 2:

In game two, Jacqui Schwalm staked the Rams to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second with a two run triple. Keely Scotia doubled the Rams lead with a two run double in the bottom third inning.

The Bears got a run back in the top of the third inning on a Reichert double. The Rams would plate five runs in the bottom of the fifth innings to secure the run rule victory. Dick plated a pair of runs with a single and Scotia added an RBI triple. Payton Ceglarski followed with a sacrifice fly and Morgan Poli plated the final run with a single to right.

Scotia finished the game 3-for-3 for the Rams with a run scored and three RBI, while Kelsey McGuill and Pepin finished with two hits apiece.

Alexandra Ruprecht finished with a pair of hits for Bears. Shannon Ward earned the victory in the circle going five innings allowing one earned run on four hits with six strikeouts. Laura Hatch took the loss for the Bears going four and two thirds allowing nine earned runs on 10 hits.


The Rams are back in action on Saturday April 3rd, 2021 when they host Mass. Maritime for a pair of games beginning at noon.
