Garden Clubs' Annual Plant Sale Saturday

hostasFRAMINGHAM, MA - On Saturday, May 22, 2010 the Pinefield Garden Club and the Simpson Park Garden Clubs are holding their Annual Perennial Plant Sale & Raffle on the Framingham Centre Common from from 9:00am until 12:00 noon.

Perennials & herbs grown by members will be for sale. Each year the club brings beautiful plants -- you will not be disappointed with the selection, (or the very reasonable prices).

Come early for the best selection -- rain or shine!

In addition to the plant sale, the clubs are also raffling off many items including manicures, pedicures and gift certificates to local businesses and restaurants.

Knowledgeable garden club members will be on hand to answer any questions you have about the plants and gardening.

Framingham Centre Common is located on Edgell Rd. just north of Rt. 9, near the State College exit.  Parking may be available in the Village Hall parking lot, or in church parking lots next to the common.


MWRA Tunnel Leaking 8 Million Gallons Per Hour

May 1st, 2010 - MWRA Leak in Weston

MWRA supply tunnels, connectors and aqueducts in and near Weston, MA

WESTON, MA - on Saturday afternoon, (May 1, 2010), the Metropolitan Water Resource Authority, (MWRA), announced a major break in a 10 foot diameter pipe.

The break is located where the MetroWest Water Supply Tunnel meets the City Tunnel on Recreation Road in Weston.

The leak has caused 8 million gallons of water per hour to leak from the water supply into the Charles River.

Framingham residents are not affected by this break, and no "boil water" advisory for the town has been issued.

Bourne National Cemetery Visit

FRAMINGHAM, MA - Sponsored by Framingham Lodge 1264 B.P.O., ELKS, a Veterans Tribute including a bus trip visit to the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne followed by a barbeque at the Elks Lodge is planned for Sunday, May 30, 2010, (the day before Memorial Day).

A single Deluxe Ritchie Bus is reserved for the day, with seating for only 55 people. Reservations are on a first come - first served basis.  The cost is only $20 and includes; bus trip, box lunch and a barbeque at the Elk's Lodge upon return from the Cape.

Trip Schedule: (Sunday, May 30, 2010)

  • 10:15 am - Bus leaves - ELKS Parking Lot, 450 Union Ave., Framingham
  • 1:00 pm - Memorial Day Ceremony
  • 4:00 pm - Return for Lodge Barbeque

The Veterans Tribute is open to all veterans, friends and the general public.

To make reservations: Send a check for $20 made payable to "Framingham Lodge No.1264 B.P.O. ELKS", and mail to P.O. BOX 4747, Framingham MA 01704.  RSVP w/check deadline is May 27, 2010.

The day promises to be a truly patriotic event with the Maritime Band, a wreath placement ceremony and other Memorial Day events.  Bring a camera!

Super Seniors Expo at Office Depot May 5th

FRAMINGHAM, MA - Office Depot is hosting a special Super Seniors Expo this Wednesday, May 5th, from 10 to 3 at its location in Shoppers World, Rt. 9W, Framingham.

State Senator Karen Spilka and State Rep. Pam Richardson, the Callahan Senior Center, Soar 55 and other area organizations will be on hand.

This will also be a great chance to learn about area businesses that offer products and services that 50+ seniors may find useful at home, work, or business. About 25 businesses will offer information about organizing, downsizing, assisted living options, errands, homecare services, mortgages, longterm care insurance, volunteering, and more.

Free coffee and refreshments will be available, including a complimentary brunch by John Harvard’s Brew House.

Free PC Checkups and certificates for $5 worth of free shredding services will be offered, as well as raffles, giveaways, and coupons.

There will be vendors and store staff there to answer questions, and make recommendations on products and services to help you use your computers, printers, cameras, phones, and other items to get the most out of them.

This event is free. Come and bring a friend. All welcome.
