Framingham Public Works Construction & Traffic Alerts (Week of April 10-16, 2022)

FRAMINGHAM, MA - Motorists are advised that there may be detours or slow moving traffic due to construction work being performed during daytime hours on the following roads in Framingham during the week of April 10th through the 16th, 2022. Please note: construction schedules are weather permitting and subject to change.

Signs placed near construction sites advise drivers that they should be prepared to stop.

The following roads and areas where Framingham Department of Public Works, Eversource, Verizon, MassDOT and private contractors are performing roadway and infrastructure improvements may cause delays or detours for motorists -

Carlson Road Water, Sewer, and Roadway Improvements - Begin installing new water main. Expect minor to moderate delays. A one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect at times.

Edmands Road Gas Main Replacement - Eversource Gas will replace gas main and service lines on Edmands Road between Edgell and Garvey Roads. Expect moderate delays. A one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect.

Irving Street Sewer Main Installation - a private contractor will install new sewer main on Irving Street between the Fire Department and Leland Street. Expect moderate delays. A one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect.

Miscellaneous Drainage Repairs - repairs will be made at the following locations:

  • Forest Avenue near Warren Avenue
  • Fay Road at Seminole Avenue
  • Newton Place at Franklin Street

Expect moderate delays. A one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect.

Nobscot Intersection Improvements - Install conduit on Edgell Road and Water Street. Overhead cables will continue to be relocated. Expect moderate delays. A lane shift or one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect. At times, traffic will be detoured through the CVS plaza.

Utility Pole Inspections and Restoration - Osmose / Verizon, Dig safe paint markings will be noticeable in the public right-of-way near telephone poles throughout Framingham for Osmose’s utility pole inspections and restoration. Residents with questions about this project should contact Osmose Utility at (770) 632-6700 or submit an inquiry form on their website.

Quinlan Drive Gas Main Replacement - Eversource Gas will continue replacing gas main on Quinlan Drive. Expect minor delays.

Union Avenue Roadway Improvements – (MassDOT) Install drainage pipes and structures on Union Avenue near the Main Street and Maple Street traffic islands. Expect moderate delays. A lane shift or one-way alternating traffic pattern will be in effect.


Reminder: Curbside Leaf Collection is next week, (April 11-15, 2022). Curbside collection will occur on residents’ regularly scheduled trash/recycling collection day. Residents who plan to take advantage of curbside collection should reference the requirements. Yard waste and brush not conforming to the requirements will not be collected and left at the curb. Residents with a valid Recycling Drop-Off Center Permit can utilize the Yard Waste Facility on Dudley Road during regular operating hours, Fridays and Saturdays, 8 a.m.-3 p.m., and Sundays, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.


Neighborhood Street Sweeping is Underway - The Highway Division is scheduled to sweep:

  • Zone 6 on Monday, April 11, 2022
  • Zone 7 on Tuesday, April 12, 2022
  • Zone 8 on Wednesday, April 13, 2022

Street sweeping operations are weather-dependent. All roads will have signage posted before the sweepers enter the neighborhoods. Please do not park in the street when signs are posted.
Vehicles obstructing street sweeping equipment will be towed. Visit the Street Sweeping Page on the Frmaingham Government website for the anticipated schedule and maps, which will be updated regularly.
