First Night boston - New Years Eve Ice Sculpture in front of Boston Public Library.

Ice sculptures are one of the First Night Boston crowd favorites and are display throughout the city. Larger carvings can be found in Copley near the Boston Library, and along Boston Common, the Frog Pond and other locations around the city. This massive creation was a life size Arctic Wonderland with carved Walrus, Narwhales, Polar Bears, Penguins and huge ice-bergs floating in a sea of ice in front of Boston Public Library.

FRAMINGHAM, MA - Below are just some of the events being held on New Year's Eve, Friday, December 31, 2010 in Framingham and other local towns as well as Boston and Worcester "First Night" info.

If you plan to attend one of the dances, parties or other events which require reservations -- be aware that some of these events sell out quickly and you should confirm your plans as early as possible.

First Night Boston 2011 - a day long festival celebrating art and community in Boston. Ice sculptor will start working on their creations on Boston Common at 9:00am, at Copley and at the Frog Pond, continuing throughout the day. First Night button holders get Free Admission to New England Aquarium from 9:00AM, ('til Noon),there's a Free Chiming Concert out the Christian Science Plaza (10:00am), and free admission to countless cultural events including the Institute of Contemporary Art, Mary Baker Eddy Library, First Night Film Program at the MFA (Museum of Fine Arts), Otis House Museum and lots of activities for kids -- from 1-6PM, drop in Beehive Studios at Hynes Convention Center and, "get ready to be seen in the Grand Procession in grand style! ~ MBTA Service on New Years Eve ~

Train service to Boston or Worcester is avialable from the Framingham MBTA Commuter Rail station which is located at interestion of Waverley St. & Concord St., (Rt. 126 and Rt. 135) in Downtown Framingham. Save the hassles of parking and be free to walk and ride the "T".

Trains leave Framingham for Boston at 10:05AM, 11:50AM, 3:15PM, 3:35PM, 7:00PM, 8:40PM, 9:45PM.

Trains leave Framingham for Worcester at 8:30AM, 11:37AM, 1:37PM, 3:21PM, 5:22PM, 6:51PM, 9:26PM and 11:51PM.

NOTE: On New Years Eve, MBTA service runs on the Sunday Schedule. (See updated info and link below). Bicycles are NOT allowed on the trains on New Years Eve.  For more info, visit the MBTA website <www.mbta.com>.

  2. Hi Sandra, thanks — I think you’re correct. On new Years Eve the MBTA will run on a weekday schedule, (with additional trains added to some lines and all trains FREE after 8:00PM).
