Traffic Alerts, Road Construction Detours (Oct. 24th-28th, 2011)

Drivers are alerted to Be Prepared To Stop, (and wait), as construction continues on Concord St. and other roads in Framingham.

FRAMINGHAM, MA- Roadwork on several major capital improvement projects in town will continue this week, (Monday through Friday, October 24th through October 28th, 2011).

Delays due to traffic and detours around some of the work sites can add to driving times, so motorists should plan accordingly.

The Town of Framingham's Department of Public Works / Highway Division / Capital Projects website offers residents and visitors to Framingham helpful information about current and upcoming construction projects.

You can view up to date traffic alerts, maps of project work sites and traffic detours, and sign up to receive email alerts for all or any of the currently listed projects.

The email traffic alert for the week of October 24th -28th, 2011 indicates that:

''A'' Street in Framingham, MA closed to traffic during the day due to sewer construction work.

''A'' Street is closed to traffic from 7:00am until 4:00pm as crews perform sewer construction work.

"A" Street- Construction crews will continue to complete service connections on"A" Street, restricting traffic to a one lane alternating traffic pattern while construction is underway. At the end of each work day, normal traffic flow on "A" Street will be restored. Access to side streets and Framingham High School will be maintained.

Beulah Street and Worcester Road (Route 9) - Construction crews will continue to install new sewer main on Beulah Street and perform drainage work on Route 9 westbound. While construction is in progress Beulah Street will be restricted to local traffic only from Auburn Street Ext. and will be closed at the intersection of Route 9 westbound. Construction activities are scheduled to take place overnight between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Coburn Area - Construction crews will continue to install new sewer main on Winthrop Street. While construction is in progress; Winthrop Street will be closed between Bethany Road and Mellen Street and through traffic will be locally detoured. Construction activities on Winthrop Street are scheduled to take place between 9:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. daily. A service crew will be working on Hilton Street and Naples Street installing new service connections. Construction activities are scheduled to take place between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Concord Street, (North of Rt. 9 / Worcester Road) - A service crew is working on Concord Street between School Street and the southern end of "A" Street installing service connections; side street connections and drainage improvement. While construction is in progress; it will be necessary to utilize a single lane alternating traffic pattern through the work zone. Construction activities will take place daily between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Summer 2010 - Detours on Concord St. send drivers down Summer St.

Detour on Concord St. (near Hardy St. and the YMCA) send drivers down Summer St. to Beacon St. to get to and from Rt. 30.

Construction crews are currently working between Old Connecticut Path and Summer Street installing double force mains, sewer services and drainage. While construction is in progress; southbound traffic on Concord Street will be detoured from Concord Street to Summer Street, from Summer Street to Beacon Street and from Beacon Street to Cochituate Road back onto Concord Street. Access to properties and side streets will be maintained throughout construction. Construction activities will take place daily between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

A drill rig has been progressing north on Concord Street in preparation for rock fracturing for sewer main installation on Concord Street north of the intersection of Cochituate Road (Route 30). Traffic on Concord Street between Route 30 and Old Connecticut Path shall be one lane alternating. Construction activities will take place daily between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Concord Street, (South of  Rt. 9 / Worcester Road) - Construction crews will continue to install deep gravity sewer main on the ramp from 126 north to Route 9 east. This work will require a one lane alternating traffic pattern while construction is underway. Normal traffic patterns will resume at the end of the work day. Construction activities are scheduled to take place between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. daily.

Construction crews will continue to install a deep sewer main on Concord Street between Gorman Road and Route 9. Southbound traffic on Concord Street will be detoured from Concord Street to Corregidor Road, from Corregidor Road to Saint Lo Street, from Saint Lo Street to Guadalcanal Road, from Guadalcanal Road to Arsenal Road, from Arsenal Road to Normandy Road, and from Normandy Road back onto Concord Street. Normal traffic patterns will resume at the end of the work day. Construction activities are scheduled to take place overnight between 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.

Roadway reconstruction activities will continue on Concord Street between Gorman Road and Lincoln Street including trench repair, sidewalk panel repairs, structure adjustments and the installation of SAMI course between Hartford Street and Gorman Road. It is anticipated that traffic will be restricted to a one lane alternating pattern through the construction zone. Construction activities are scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 22nd between 7:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. and will be continued on Monday, October 24th through the entire week. Weather permitting final paving installation is scheduled for Wednesday, October 26th and Thursday, October 27th during the overnight hours of 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Danforth Street Bridge - Bridge will be closed during construction. (Additional info on MassDOT website, see link at bottom of page).

Fountain Street Bridge - Bridge will be closed during construction. It is anticipated that the bridge will be closed until November of 2011. Traffic will be detoured to the west, over the Winter Street Bridge and the Fountain Street Bridge in Ashland. (Additional info on MassDOT website, see link at bottom of page).

Pleasant Street (Route 30 at Framingham Centre) - Construction crews will continue to install water main on Pleasant Street from Pine Hill Road to Thomas Drive. Pleasant Street will be restricted to one lane alternating traffic while construction is in progress. Construction activities are scheduled to take place daily between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
