Framingham, MA -- The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) announced it has identified 14 West Nile Virus (WNV) positive mosquito samples out of 2,705 collected in Barnstable, Middlesex, and Suffolk Counties. Of the 2,705, there were zero Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) samples identified. There also were zero human cases of WNV and EEE in Barnstable, Middlesex, and Suffolk Counties.
The populations of mosquito vectors that transmits WNV and EEE are above average and increasing due to intense regional precipitation events and continued warm weather.

East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project in Framingham.
FRAMINGHAM, MA -- The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project is planning to use a truck-mounted aerosol sprayer to apply “reduced-risk pesticide” to control mosquito populations in the City Thursday, July 22, 2021. All spraying will be done between dusk and 11:30 p.m.
The spraying is scheduled for neighborhoods of Framingham that are located in the vicinity of Savoy Road, Angela Road, Doris Road, August Drive, Sylvester Drive and Mayflower Road.
FRAMINGHAM, MA -- The Framingham Department of Public Works (DPW) will host Household Hazardous Waste Day, Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00p.m. at the DPW Operations Center, 100 Western Ave., Framingham MA 01702.
Household hazardous waste is banned from disposal in trash or recycling by state law. The DPW's Sanitation Division sponsors annual household hazardous waste disposal events which are FREE and open to all Framingham residents.
Residents can bring their household hazardous waste to be disposed of properly, (see list of accepted items below).

Governor Baker's July 1, 2021 proclamation of “Hurricane Preparedness Week”
FRAMINGHAM, MA -- Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has proclaimed July 11 - 17, 2021, to be Hurricane Preparedness Week to emphasize both the Commonwealth's vulnerability to tropical storms and hurricanes and the importance of preparing for their impacts.
“As we saw during our recent experience with Tropical Storm Elsa, planning and preparing in advance for a tropical storm or hurricane can help protect individuals and families and limit damage to property,” said Governor Charlie Baker. “We encourage residents in every part of the Commonwealth to develop an emergency plan, prepare emergency supplies and stay informed throughout hurricane season.”

FRAMINGHAM, MA -- Framingham resident Audrey Hall was recently elected by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women (MCSW) to the office of Vice Chair.
Hall was appointed to the Commission in 2018 by Senate President Karen E. Spilka. She served as Vice Chair of the MCSW’s Legislative and Public Policy Committee from 2019 to 2020 and as Chair of the MCSW’s Budget and Personnel Committee from 2020 to 2021.

FRAMINGHAM, MA -- The Framingham Police Department working in conjunction with the Massachusetts State Police VFAS Unit, the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, and outside agencies in Tennessee, New York, and Las Vegas, were able to locate and arrest three of Framingham’s Most Wanted individuals.
ARRESTED- Elmer Diaz (DOB: 12/3/1996) on July 7, 2021 in Cookeville, TN by Putnam County Sheriffs. Warrant charges include Rape, Burglary, Unarmed Assault in a Dwelling and Indecent A&B on a Person over 14.
